EU Cookie Law & Google’s Venice update

| March 12, 2012

Here are links to two excellent, timely blog posts.

The first covers the ins and outs of the EU’s so-called Cookie Law, which requires websites to get informed consent before storing or retrieving information on (or from) visitors’ computers. It comes into play on May 26th this year.

The second looks at the implications of one of Google’s most important recent algorithm updates, named ‘Venice’, which delivers good news for local businesses wanting to gain better visibility in Google’s search results pages.

Originally from Middlesbrough, I lived in Brighton for many years before moving to North Devon. I’ve had a passion for words all my life and this is my twelfth year as a freelance writer. In my spare time I draw, paint, sculpt, carve wood and rock, garden, read, write poetry and enjoy long distance hiking. I sing and play the recorder. I collect modernist paintings, vintage rugs and mid-century German art pottery. I’m a member of The Poetry Society. And I am an experienced volunteer shepherd, a ‘Lookerer’.
